The details for BIS certification (ISI Mark) for masks are as under:
The cost of testing equipments for in-house laboratory:
1. Surgical Masks - Rs 25,00,000/-
2. N95 Masks - Rs 21,00,000/-

For both types of masks, separate BIS licences will be granted on a factory testing basis.

The consultancy charges - Rs 1,25,000/- for each licence

The delivery time for test equipment for the laboratory will be 2-3 months.

In this regard, please also note that the Government is considering allowing manufacturers to obtain BIS certification (ISI licence) by testing samples in in-house labs of BIS licensees till such time the applicant also installs the lab in his own premises. It is a temporary measure to facilitate availability of quality masks to people in India. It is, therefore, possible that BIS licence may be granted within 30-45 days, as BIS is considering temporary relaxation in In-house testing facilities.
